Summer Specials

Dorset Theatre Festival 2008 Schedule

June 19 - 28                                   NOBODY DON'T LIKE YOGI

                                                        By Thomas Lysaght

Teddy Coluca (Henry the Butler in last season’s Dulcy) stars as Yogi Berra as he returns after a 14 year absence from Yankee Stadium.  Reminiscing about greats like Mantle and Maris, revealing his own unlikely path to the majors, and revealing himself as a husband, father, and friend, this play will charm even the most hardened Red Sox Fan.
                                        Directed by DTF’s Artistic Director,
                                        Carl Forsman

July 3 – 19                                        THE DINING ROOM

                                                By A.R. Gurney

A. R. Gurney’s masterpiece of 20th Century family life – formal, informal, and impossible – explodes across the stage in a series of scenes dissecting birthday parties, holidays, breakfasts, affairs, and every imaginable form of American familial relations.  Spanning the century and a single day at the same time.  The Dining Room is a humorous and moving evocation of family life, past and present.

July 24 – August 9               A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD

books and lyrics by Willie Reale
                                      music by Robert Reale
based on the books by Arnold Lobel

A visual, comedic feast about the value of friendship.  This charming, jazzy musical version of the much beloved Arnold Lobel stories will be fun for all ages. Bring family and friends to enjoy the first musical of DTF’s new era.

August 14 – 30                                   JUNE MOON

by George S. Kaufman                           and Ring Lardner

The second production of THE KAUFMAN COLLECTION, DTF’s commitment to rediscovering for American audiences George S. Kaufman’s great works for the stage.  The only collaboration between Kaufman and the great Ring Lardner tells the story of a young songwriter who meets the right girl on the train into the Big Apple – where he meets the wrong girl, and pens the song that will make his fortune!  A comedic romp set in the wild and unpredictable music business.
                                                  Directed by Carl Forsman
