The feeling is that of a time
gone by, yet with modern conveniences that make a visit to our
inn completely comfortable. There is a story to every Barrows
House room or cottage: each furnished in its own restful style
with antiques, family pieces and modern bedding! Each of our
houses has its own sitting room, porch or terrace; several have
fireplaces, all have air conditioning.
The glowing hearth in our main inn living room and cozy the
library-look of our fully licensed Tavern provide all the opportunity
one could desire for companionship or privacy.
Barrows House is open year round with every season offering
its special attraction in Southern
Vermont and the inn. In spring, summer and early fall,
our own pool and two tennis courts are available for your enjoyment
and bicycles can be borrowed for leisurely rides around Dorset and
through the Mettowee River Valley.
Nearby Manchester offers a dazzling array of shopping adventures
and a challenging 18-hole golf course for the serious golfer.
Horseback riding and trout fishing on the famed Battenkill
and Mettowee Rivers are found close by, and hiking trails abound
throughout the area. In winter, the downhill runs of Bromley
and Stratton are within a short drive, and we strongly recommend
the special pleasures to be found in ski touring. A wide variety
of trails and terrains are available within a short distance.
Our sauna will be ready with a warm welcome when you return.
Whatever your pleasure...the pursuit of antiques, enjoying
a production at the Dorset Playhouse, an exhibit at the Southern
Vermont Art Center, auctions, flea markets, the breathtaking
colors of Vermont's fall foliage...you will always find a warm
reception at Barrows House. |
