"Our stay here was everything I was looking for. Seclusion, relaxation and immersion in activities if I wanted to. We really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and we did book a night to eat at the inn. You will not be disappointed if you stay here everything about it is warm and inviting."

"This my third stay at the Barrows House. I am always surprised and excited to watch the changes they continue to make in order to provide increasingly modern amenities while maintaining old world charm and warmth. The staff is always available, helpful and pleasant! The food is always a delight and the chefs demonstrate a welcome combination of the familiar and exotic ! "

"We had a quick romantic getaway in the Wrens nest - it was just beautiful! Lovely bed linens, beautiful decorated, cozy fireplace and jacuzzi. We were disappointed at first because we didn't have access to dinner at barrows due to a wedding , but enjoyed dinner at Dorset house just as much . They were very accommodating and we peeked at the wedding - truly amazing evening for that couple!

"We recently enjoyed a wonderful evening of dining at the newly renovatwd Barrows House. The setting was gorgeous on a beautiful early fall evenng. The terrace was delightful and warm with the fire and the fancy heaters. Our dinners were scrumptious! The renovations are gorgeous and the whole feel is picture perfect Vermont! The staff were very attentive and prompt with their service. I will be highly recommending the Barrow's House to all of my friends. And when i have visitors to our home in VT I'll be sure to bring them out for dinner!"

"We live in Vermont and come to Dorset for the grat stores in Manchester, great restaurants in Dorset and esp. the Dorset Inn and Barrows House. We've stayed in most of the state's fine select registry places but these are the best for great service, terrific accommodations and fantastic staff that we all love. We love it so much there, we are considering moving to the region. Steve and Lauren Bryant have done an excellent job with the Barrows house. Sitting on the patio at either place is a joy in the Summer and Fall. Both have a fantastic restaurant. "

"We completely enjoyed our stay. From our room to the friendly staff. One suggestion, putting a coffee-maker in the room. I enjoy my coffee in my bathrobe, and not having to get dressed for it. Everything else was great!"

"My friend and I had a wonderful stay at the Barrows Wednesday, and the Playhouse in the evening. It was a perfect combination! Our dinners in your restaurant were delicious, as was breakfast Thursday morning at your sister Inn down the road, and we took advantage of your beautiful pool! Vermont is a little piece of heaven - always a wonderful respite. We hope to return to that area sometime in the future."

"After months of careful renovation to save the spirit but with a new vibe, the Barrows House is now the "go to" place in Dorset. Outdoor terrace seating, great menu(budget friendly) and the bar/restaurant is both updated and just a bit hip."

"My husband and I and our dogs have been going to Dorset VT for the last 20 years. Our younger son was an acting intern at the Dorset Theater Festival in 1993. We have stayed at he Barrows House and the Dorset Inn many times. Now that the Dorset Inn has acquired The Barrows House our options for dog friendly accommodations has expanded. Ten family member including five children just returned from a wonderful stay at the Barrows House which included delicious dinners at both Inns and breakfasts at the Dorset Inn. The grandchildren especially enjoyed the lemonade and cookies after returning from a swim at the Marble Quarry and before a dip in the BH pool. They also enjoyed dining on the new terrace, sitting by the fire pit and running on lawns surrounding the terrace. Parents and children shared the Raven's Loft while the grandparents enjoyed the Wren's Nest next door. Our favorite lunch in Manchester was at Al Ducci's, and Cissy's Kitchen in Middleton Springs. We also enjoyed our visit to Merck Forest and picking and eating blueberries and raspberries on their working farm, which has spectacular views of the mountains. Sat. night my granddaughter and I saw a excellent performance of "Barefoot in the Park" at the Dorset Playhouse. Looking forward to our next visit. "

"Gorgeous inn with luxury renovations, high end bedding, a large hip bar, good restaurant, nice pool, and wonderful outdoor features. The owner was friendly and helpful. This is a fantastic place that I highly recommend to families, couples, and adventure travelers wanting an unpretentious and hip place that is fully renovated yet still historic. Walking distance to playhouse, the Dorset Inn, and a cute general store that has wonderful wines and baked goods."

"Far exceeded my expectations. Young and hip, but historic too.
I stayed there on a Saturday night in mid-July 2013. Our room was in the main inn. I was greeted by a friendly manager and the owner, taken on a brief tour. The inn has been restored with historic touches in most rooms but with a modern flair in areas like the very large bar, dining room, our door patio, and the bathrooms. Our bed was all brand new and the styling and quality of the finishes are excellent. Some of the older decor includes refinished plank floors, well done moldings, a classic traditional living room, and old style wooden rocking chairs on the large front porch. The pool was warm, clean, all new lounge chairs and tables, and the attendant gave out nice plush colorful towels. Cold beer and drinks are sold right at the pool. We ate at the Dorset Inn (same owners) for lunch and breakfast (breakfast included) which was fantastic and two blocks away. The sidewalks between the two properties is white marble ... pretty cool! For dinner we ate right at the Barrows House. Lobster mac and cheese was good, service was good and the ale was cold. Before and after dinner we hung out at the fire pit with people we had met at the pool. The location of the Barrows house is walking distance to the theater, general store that stocks a nice selection of wine, cheese and fresh baked goods. About one mile away is the Dorset Quarry with fresh water and cliffs ranging from 5'-25' which we did the second day. About 5 miles away is Manchester, VT and Bromley. Stratton is 15 miles which was a beautiful motorcycle ride for us on this gorgeous summer day. Thank you. We will be back for certain. "

"Our daughter's wedding was the 4th and last wedding that her stepdad and I have planned in the past 13 years. (3 of the weddings have taken place in the past 5 years.) Without a doubt, we would not hesitate to recommend the Dorset Inn / Barrows House for one of life's most important milestones. Worth every penny spent: beds comfortable; food outstanding; abundant ambience, with a backdrop of green, mountains, and fresh country air. However, we would encourage those who are seeking a higher level of service, commitment, and trust -- to choose the Dorset Inn / Barrows House with their experienced, hardworking, dedicated staff. One simply cannot put a price on those values. We look forward to staying with you again. Thank you"
